Changes in legislation means that vehicles will, in future, require a smartcard Digital Tachograph.

In readiness for the new legislation and to meet customer needs, J Coates Daventry is offering the new SE5000 Digital Tachograph. Complying with Annex 1b regulations, the SE5000 is fully compatible with all approved tachograph smartcards.

The regulations in brief:

A tachograph must be serviced every two years where the following checks are required to be made:

• Check that the tachograph is fitted and is complete.

• Check for condition and that it can be illuminated.

• Check that the tachograph scale is marked in kilometres per hour.

• Check the presence of the tachograph manufacturers serial number/data plaque.

• Check tachograph installation/calibration plaque for presence and condition, and the date of calibration is clearly visible. (Note: Installation/calibration plaques expire after 6 years).

• Check the 'K factor' plaque for presence and condition and the 'K factor' is clearly visible.

• Check tachograph DIL switch covers and all seals for presence and condition and that they are the correct type.

• Check installation/calibration plaque for presence and condition, and the date of calibration is clearly visible.
